Major Anuj Sood was a young and dynamic Indian Army officer. He was known for his bravery and affable nature. He was killed in action in the night of 2nd May. His team, led by Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, entered a house to rescue 11 civilians who were used by terrorists as hostage. They had cleared the area before entering the house. However, two terrorists were hiding behind and as soon as they entered the house, they were sprayed by bullets.



Two other terrorists had started to pump bullets from the front. In fact, the team of four Indian Army personnel and one SI of J&K Police couldn’t even retaliate and were killed in action.



It is believed that the hostage crisis was stage managed to trap them.
